Adjusting to Change
Everyone struggles with change.
Annually we all undergo changes, they can be in your personal life or in business. With these changes comes uneasiness, stress and anxiety before there can be a sense of calm and order. No more was this apparent this weekend with my youngest dog, as my husband and I tested out our new camper on a quick overnight trip to better understand the equipment. This is not our first rodeo in the RV world, but it is our first trailer and the how to “hitch and unhitch” this new home on wheels had us a bit nervous, as well as backing it up.
What we failed to take into account was how all this environment change would affect our dogs, especially our youngest. Two years ago we went through something quite similar with our grown children, as we moved out of the only home and city they had grown up in, to a brand new home 40 minutes away. It was a very emotional time. Like everything in life, things take awhile to adjust to.
Well, our first night in our trailer, our youngest dog woke us up once every hour, we counted 6 times before we realized she needed something familiar to lay on in order to sleep through the night in her new space. As my husband and I struggled with who was going to take care of this dilemma, “You go”, “No you go” half awake conversation, the decision was to take action and bring in her favorite bed pillow from the truck to the camper. Problem solved, she fell asleep until we woke up hours later.
Whether the changes are temporary or permanent, a big part of what I do with my clients is ease their anxieties about their decision to move or make changes in their existing homes. We need to also make sure that your pet’s needs are met. Ease their confusion by making sure that their special old torn blanket, pillow or toy, that they are so familiar with doesn’t get thrown away or forgotten, but instead travels with them. They will be happy, you will be happier.
Say to yourself…”This too shall pass”.

Congratulations with the new camper! Are you planning a trip east this summer!
Best wishes!!
